turkey-bay-orv-area-land-between-the-lakes.jpgJim and I have been to Land Between the Lakes a few times for offroading in our Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. Turkey Bay ORV Area is the Land Between The Lakes’ designated area for off-highway vehicles.

If you’re thinking of going to Turkey Bay soon, here are some of the best links, directions, maps and videos to help guide your offroad trip.

What It’s Like
In case you’re wondering, it’s a pretty tame area to ride offroad… in a Jeep.

Turkey Bay ORV Area tends to be more popular with ATVers than Jeepers.

There are 2,500 acres to explore with water that’s easily accessible, and campsites galore.

Here are some videos featuring Jeeps & other offroad vehicles having fun at the Turkey Bay ORV Area…

For What It’s Worth…
Jim and I actually prefer to go offroading outside of the Turkey Bay ORV park area, rather than inside it.

So we usually put our Forest Service map to good use and we explore the forest roads around Land Between The Lakes instead. jim-reading-forest-service-map.jpg

TIP: Any state park ranger’s office will sell you a map of the forest areas and “forest service roads”. These roads make great off-road trails for those wishing to enjoy some fairly tame offroading. Just remember, there are few (if any) ammenities in these backcountry parts, so make sure you’ve got a full tank, plenty of water, a cellphone, and some extra supplies — just in case.
