Jeep certainly used a one-of-a-kind promotion to showcase their 2006 Jeep Commander and to announce their partnership with Operation Gratitude as a means of getting donated items to U.S. Military Soldiers.

Jeep is making nearly 2,800 Jeep dealerships nationwide official "drop zone" locations for Operation Gratitude, a national non-profit organization that collects comfort items and letters of appreciation from the American public and ships them to service members overseas.

Balsam Mountain Offroading

Jim videotaping the sights and sounds along Balsam Mountain. In the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, just outside of Cherokee, NC, is a 14-mile trail known as Heintooga Round Bottom Road. It looked pretty tame, so Lynnette and I decided to give it a spin in our Jeep.

This is our Jeep crossing through the water. The good news is that just about anyone can take this trip. A 4WD vehicle is not required.

This van slipped a bit on the loose gravel below the swift moving creek, but it, and the other car in the video tape, managed to get to the other side without incident. The highlight of the trip was this rocky water crossing. The entire way, we only passed 2 other vehicles and 1 mountain biker... and we just happened to capture both cars going through the water.

(The other one's in the video below.)
